The Rockbox™ originates from a Box drum, also commonly known as a cajon.

Typically made from timber, these wooden drums are found extensively throughout Cuba, Peru and Spain.
The cajon is the favoured percussive instrument for Flamenco and also Peruvian music.
Unlike the traditional cajon, Rockbox™ has a patent pending snare system with boom arm attachment allowing easy removal and ultra fine adjustment of the snare and also easy amplification. The snare can be perfectly positioned anywhere within the cajon with full lateral and vertical movement.
The tension of the snare and also the amount of snare wire touching the surface of the front diaphragm is fully adjustable, so if you want a tight crisp sounding snare for heavy metal or a loose light snare for jazz, the adjustable snare system delivers.STM Rockbox cajon
A deeper bass note is achieved by gluing the diaphragm directly upon the box frame all the way around.
Many cajon manufacturers leave the top part of the diaphragm un-glued and use screws to attach the diaphragm (front panel) onto the drum frame.
Although this method allows the drummer to loosen the above mentioned top screws to create a high pitched slapping sound when hit, it reduces the bass resonance.
Rockbox uses a dense Australian hardwood top to achieve a similar high pitched rim hit.

If need be the adjustable snare system may also be turned off completely, not that you would want to, it's what makes the Rockbox™ a stand out amongst other snare cajons.
Our drums are so versatile due to their extreme range of snare adjustment they can be tuned to suit a myriad of music genres including; Rock, Blues, Funk, Boogie, Techno, Rap, World Music, Electronic and even Jazz in an unplugged acoustic or amplified environment.
Amplification is possible by means of a good quality directional microphone (not supplied) positioned upon the boom arms mic clip (optional extra).
The boom mic arm (optional extra) is also adjustable and easily removable, it connects to Rockbox's central post, allowing perfect and constant positioning of a directional microphone whether you tilt or move the Rockbox™ (see image, click here)
Excellent for jamming, and performances in small venues such as cafes, restaurants etc, they are so portable and convenient, even for a camping trip they make great accompaniment for an acoustic guitar and when your not drumming they make a great camping seat.
Why not replace your dead drum stool for a Rockbox™, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMWQbcQthxA
and add a new dimension to the your drum kit.
